Summer Production
February, 2011
Play readings have been continuing on Tuesday evenings and the chosen script is “Allo Allo” – the stage version of the popular TV show. Myra is directing and is busy establishing a production team, with performances proposed for Tuesday evenings in July and August. Auditions will be held in March after Myra returns from her holiday (potentially Tuesday 15th), but in the meantime we are continuing to meet on most Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm in the Club HQ to read the script, work on the many accents the script requires, and watch DVDs of the TV shows etc, to help prepare. Any offers of help, or interest in participating to Myra or Seb please.

Summer camping
Aug 25, 2010
Summer 2010 has seen several camping trips filling up our social calendar. Our favoured site is Llyn Gwynant site near Beddgelert where we walk, canoe, swim, play silly games, eat lots of food and share pina colada around the campfire!! The camps are great fun, and include some of our youngest members right through to our "mature seniors"! This is our third season of camping and we even have our own slogans for our hoodies and t-shirts. 2009 season was "Making a Reasonable Amount of Noise" - this was according to one of the poor site wardens trying to shush our camp fire singalongs after 11pm. 2010 saw a print run of "We're sooooo lucky" - this came from a catchphrase of Caroline's usually uttered at the top of various mountains or out on our canoes, as we looked around us and counted our blessings. September may be approaching but we'll be squeezing in another camp or two before packing our sleeping bags away until the spring.

...about the Agatha Christie style comedy spoof...
“It was very entertaining, and excellent value for money. If you've never seen one of the Starlight Player’s productions you are seriously missing out.”

Sing-a-long Success
May 5, 2010
The latest social event within the Starlight Players was a "singalonga Wizard of Oz" evening. Adult and junior members were invited to come along in fancy dress to watch the DVD with subtitles for all the songs. As usual, a varied and tasty buffet was on offer, and everyone had a great time booing the Wicked Witch of the West (aka Kate Parry and Julie Roberts) and cheering on Dorothy (Emilia Spindley), the Cowardly Lion (Paula Carr), the Tin Man (Karen Dolan-Smith) and the Scarecrow (Tony Roberts). Also adding to the fun were a gang of munchkins and a very sparkly Good Witch (Sebastian Vidal - stunning in yellow tafetta and wings!)
A good evening was had by all."
Aladdin gets rave reviews in NODA Magazine
Feb 4, 2010
This is a write up on our recent pantomime that appeared in NODA magazine.
"ALADDIN” - Director: Paul Dunn Musical Director: Melissa Minnice
“A real triumph for Director Paul Dunn who also wrote the script and with a solid production team this pantomime really took off.
The large cast of adults and children was headed by Nest Jones in the title role with experienced Jeremy Davies as the most wicked Abanazer I have ever seen – fabulous make-up. Steve Clayton was a real hit as Widow Twankey- the audience just loved him with Gethin Roberts as Wishee Washee, Aladdin’s brother. Peter Weston and Julie Roberts impressed as Emperor and Empress respectively whilst Ffion Vaughan-Williams carried out her duties as Grand Vizier. There were many supporting roles each one fully justifying their selection. Creative dance routines from The Gaynor Owen Dancers supported by an enthusiastic chorus added to the success. The show was beautifully dressed with full marks to the costume department but I felt scenery was rather sparse and the stage could have been dressed with more props. Nevertheless a most enjoyable performance. Thank you all so much once again."
